Many thanks to all those who responded to my request for the reference to
the recent article on dummies/pacifiers. Having read a tempting snippet in
the morning newspaper, I was reading the full text article in Pediatrics in
the afternoon. The wonders of the information superhighway.

A few people mentioned other relevant references - thanks. One that I like
that has not been mentioned is: Niemel M; Uhari M; Mttnen M. A pacifier
increases the risk of recurrent acute otitis media in children in day care
centers. Pediatrics 1995 96:5 (pt 1) p 884-8
