I think this is a complicated issue...the use of LC by non-IBCLC people. In
the case of nurse practitioners, for instance, it is OK to call oneself a
practitioner...but not a certified practitioner while one is getting the
required hours to sit the exam.

There are many people, with variuos levels of training called "Nurses." The
public has no idea about this. To complicate things...not only will the
average Joe call an LPN, ADN, BSN and MSN all "nurse" they will also refer
to med. techs. and CMAs as nurses (esp. in an office setting.)

There are several such situations...in which the jargon we use to describe
our roles is very confusing to the consumer...not really sure how to deal
with it.
