Re: BF as a pain intervention when immunizing infants

Lurker out of lurking for the moment.

I'm an aboriginal midwife in Ontario, Canada.  Hopefully writing my LC's
July 2011.

Moms gave me permission to share this:  I had a mom who nursed her 3 day old
infant throughout the prenatal screen (PKU test).  Baby didn't make a peep
for me at all during the process - no flinching, no whining. He nursed
happily.  The only time baby made a noise was when mom tried to unlatch
because she believed him to be asleep.  As soon as he was latched again, he
settled right down.

Babies know what's best - mom just has to follow their lead.
