OR, how about a totally different end result that says "do not feed babies
cereal"? No. Of course that cannot be the solution afterall there are shelves
and shelves full of the stuff that must be eaten!!! Perhaps the answer is that
human babies are not meant to digest processed food at all. Honestly, if the
reality of biology and when a baby would have eaten processed food is related
to the ability to digest and utilize the nutrients, I wonder how far back in
human history we have to go to find the beginning of the use of processed
foods as part of the human diet. Perhaps, the question should be restated about
what foods to introduce as well as when and perhaps in the end cereal will not
win out as the best first food for human infants. It stands to reason that
early human beings would have been eating foods readily available and I don't
think that included a trip to the local grocer for some boxes of powder.

Thinking how glad I am that I read LLL's Womanly Art of Breastfeeding as my
first baby care book where the encouragement was for first foods to be fruits,
vegetables, and meats and that cereal was not a necessary product for baby
growth.
