I want to thank all of you who responded to my request regarding the
necessity of taking a formal course in order to prepare for the exam.
Overwhelmingly the comments supported the idea that one can take the exam
and pass successfully without taking a course. I passed all of your
comments and study suggestions on to the Breastfeeding Counselor who
wants to sit for the exam next year.  She realizes that she has a lot of
work ahead of her but she is dedicated and well disciplened.  I have been
supervising her work for the past 1 1/2 years and I know she will be a
valuable addition to your profession.
