Hi all,

I'm back after being nomail for a long time, I'll reintroduce myself later,
no time now. I am intrigued by the talk of milk stasis, and would like to
add my 2 cents. I don't know what the original posting, or secondary
messages were, so forgive me if I am redundant.

When my third child was a 3 months old, I was forced to return to work
every other weekend to pay the bills. I faithfully pumped, she never had
one drop of ABM. My husband complained about a sour smell to the milk. I
called the milk bank, I think it was somewhere in CT, and talked with the
director. It may even have been Lois Arnold, I can't remember.

Anyway, Lois (or whoever it was) told me the smell was from the breaking
down of certain fatty acids that occurred in some mother's milk when
stored. She said it was perfectly safe for my baby, my husband was
satisfied, and she recieved this milk every other weekend for many months.

Diane said "Milk which is already spoiled cannot be "fixed". Think of it as
being partially digested already......", does this mean I was giving my
daughter spoiled milk? Does it also mean that I have been giving the wrong
advice to the few women I have come across with the same problem in the
last few years?
