I'm screaming!  THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!  As a man, I can't believe other
men can feel this way, let alone that a large number of women agree with them.
How can anyone who pretends to be "civilized" think such a thing?  My hope
is that it was a flawed survey, although I can't imagine what kind of questions
could lead to such answers.  Can you give me a reference to the surveys?  I'd
really like to see the questions that were asked.

With respect to the incident in Japan, I don't pretend to understand the
military
mind.  To the outsider (me), this gives weight to the old joke that "military
intelligence" is an oxymoron.  Perhaps the CO belonged to the group that
thinks rape is OK, or perhaps he thought he was standing behind his troops
by pooh-poohing it.  To my mind, the only acceptable response is rage, and
noone with an attitude that fails to condemn rape belongs in a high-level
position.
