Hi all,
Subscribing to LACNET was a great move on my part! Thank you for
connecting me to so many wonderful human resources!

I've been contacted by a pregnant woman and her CNM for breastfeeding
assistance. This is the mom's 3rd pregnancy. She nursed the 1st baby
for 24 hours and quit due to extreme pain. Baby #2 was breastfed for 2
weeks before mom gave up. She would really like to give it another go.
She teels me that she has never recovered from the 1st painful
breastfeeding experience and that her nipples have been quite sensitive
since the 1st baby was born.

Does anyone have any insight that may be of help to us? Ofcourse we've
discussed positioning and latch, etc... and I will be available to her
as soon after she delivers as possible. I've never heard another woman
describe this type of ongoing pain and the result of breastfeeding
"trauma."

Erin, in Montana where the last leaves are off the trees and I'm going
to have to rake!
