I don't think that many. I indeed think that European LC's don't submit many
articles and I think one of the reasons may be that not as many European as
USA LC's are hospital based and thus do not have many opportunities to do
research.
Another reason might be that for non-USA LC's there may be a huge barrier to
write for a USA dominant journal for fear of not being good enough, not
reaching the standards of contence, language and style. I know this may be
hard to believe or understand for USA-folks. I know, too, that I (and I
presume others as well) get lots of compliments for my understanding of
Engliosh language, but for myself I also know that my written English is not
even coming close to the standard *I* want to reach if writing a journal
article, even with the help of the JHL editorial team.
Well, I took the barrier and did submit a very small contribution (don't know
in what issue it will appear and will probably not see it in print because I
could not afford my fee this year), but that is only a review, not an case
study or research article.

Just one short remark about USA readers maybe skipping articles that are too
non-USA and possibly complaining about that: I usually skip the articles on
WIC, on USA legislation, USA-only book and video reviews and there are quite
a lot about those, you know.

Warmly greeting,

Gonneke
