I suggested the term
lacation therapist [LT] and I still like that better, or what about
lactation practitioner?

Laurie, I like the sound of that!

But it will come, eventually, as breastfeeding becomes the norm again.
>People, including health professionals, though we despair for their ever
>learning (not all health professionals, don't jump on me), will eventually
>understand (though if we keep on with the "numbers game", I will lose my
>mind before it ever happens).

I was thinking this before I even read it!

Jack, where does this optimist come from? Have you seen any change leading
towards this utopia?

It is happening especially where I work. But all over more moms are
choosing to at least try to breastfeed. Where I work more and more moms are
exclusively BF and for longer periods of time. One of the docs I work with
was even called the "NUrsing Nazi" Even if a mom only nurses a few weeks if
she is taught to correctly tatchon at any time she will hopefully be able to
teach others especially her sisters, sister-in-law, friends, and chidren.
