Hello Jennifer

Nice to see you here, it's so good to hear of hospital or gp physicians that
are genuinly supportive of bf and say so!

One comment I would like to make is - why do you HAVE nurseries? Most of
our hospitals (i'm in the UK) closed them down years ago in an attempt to
make mothers responsible for their babies. It has worked very well. It
gives added security from 'baby abductions', and makes baby 'room in', any
baby that 'needs' other care would go to scbu/nicu. It would be nice to say
convert the nursery into a 'mothers rest/relaxation room' a tv lounge or
something - that way the mothers are also 'gaining' (in every sense).

It's a shame that when the babes are in the nursery that they aren't taken
immediately out to mothers when they are showing the first feeding signs -
it rather takes the away skills of the mother eventually recognising them
after discharge, leading as you mention to insufficient sucking time.

Anyhow Welcome
Pam
