The longer I live the more I find myself surprised about the authority we women have handed over to others especially when we are vulnerable.
        We are most vulnerable when we give birth and allow others the authority we probably shouldn't give them.  It goes way beyond trust. Every day we see young women roll over and play dead.  Empowering them sometimes scares them a little too much.  Giving them too many choices overwhelms them.  It is the rare (well informed) woman that questions what is happening to her and asks if there is an alternate way.
        This seems off subject until you realize that the bottles,the pacifier the scheduled feedings, the pump vs the baby at the breast, the baby in the nursery vs the mothers arms, the radient warmer vs the skin to skin is what I'm really talking about here.
