X-rays all have a subtle effect on live food. A security manager at
SEA-TAC airport advised me to have my doctor write a letter to say my
pro-biotic supplements and digestive enzymes should not be x-rayed.

Having several copies of this kind of letter from her doctor or the
baby’s along with the baby’s birth date and place of birth information
her may solve the problem. She should call and talk to airport
personnel with the authority to waive such x-raying of her pumped milk.
She should also offer to have an empty bottle on hand to pour her milk
into in front of security to prove there is no object hidden in the
opaque milk. What I cannot understand is why clear bottles of water
must be x-rayed. It is overkill and illogical. Did you know that all
foods delivered to the departure gate areas are x-rayed--even cases of
water?

What galls me the most in this scenario, as a former international
flight purser 30 years ago when

hi-jackings first began to happen, is that they do not trust flight
crews with proper ID. Believe me, the pilots are steamed. Identity
verification will just get worse when they are allowed to carry a gun
into the cockpit.
