LLLI does have proceedures and policies for how Leader's are supposed to
lead meetings, handle phone calls, what can be said (for example, no medical
advice given, only information). There is a Leader's Handbook with
guidelines for doing everything. Leaders are expected to follow LLLI's
proscribed formats and base their meetings on information from The Womanly
Art of Breastfeeding.

A woman who doesn't want to do it "LLLI's way" is correct in not becoming a
Leader but moving on to something else. LLLI has these proceedures and
policies to keep everyone singing off the same sheet and to protect it's
reputation.

As a hospital LC and LLL Leader, I sure can see the value of an postpartum
in-hospital breastfeeding mothers group. Many moms seem to be uncomfident
and overwhelmed right after birth. Seeing other mothers nursing and having
questions can be very valuable experience.

Kathy Eng in foggy SE Houston, not too cold but very damp and dreary.
