If it is true that some specific pumps (brands, types) do cumulate un-cleanable dirt within the mechanic part, then that would for me be a reason to not advise that type or brand to anyone.
I think in future I will only recommend types/brands of which I'm sure there is a absolutely closed system.

I think this has been mentioned before on Lactnet when this issue comes up -
wouldn't this be a concern even if the pump was used by only one woman -
especially, if it's used by one woman over a period of time (and for,
perhaps more than one child?)
