I have had one mother who had a wonderful milk supply and a thriving
breastfed baby, but who could not successfully extract milk with any pump
that I had on hand for demo.  I had to teach her hand expression, which was
the only thing that worked on her. I was *so* glad that I demo'd the
equipment with her because she would have been an unsatisfied customer had
she just purchased a pump blindly.

BTW: Mom was Asian and had perky, upright breasts that were firm with
fibrocystic tissue.
