I did a Medline search for recent articles on breastmilk colitis. I looked
and came up with this listing, which is available to you if you look at the
following url:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov:80/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Link&db=PubMed&dbFrom=P
ubMed&from_uid=2406081

The general url for PubMed (from the National Institute of Health) is
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed

I found seven pages of references, including the following abstract:

J Pediatr 1982 Dec;101(6):906-10
Dietary protein-induced colitis in breast-fed infants.
Lake AM, Whitington PF, Hamilton SR

I suggest that folks take a look at Medline if they are interested in
reading up on this subject. I have read that the offending dietary items
must be protein-related....I could be wrong on this. This would rule out
the citrus, etc.

What is the long term effect of allergy-induced changes, such as small
amounts of bloody diarrhea, or inflammation of the intestinal tract with
increased eosinophils, etc. What are the long-term negative effects of
these changes, and are the cumulative changes serious?

Input?

Kathleen
