I received a call from a local LC who was asking for my help to
induce lactation. As she is new to the
field she has never assisted a mother to do so, and I have assisted
many.

This is bizarre. The infant will be delivered at term, the
biological mother is dying of cancer and is in
Hospice. The adoptive mother is an RN and sister of the bio-mother.
The adoptive mother wants to nurse
the baby, has never been pregnant and is willing to do anything...
only problem is-she had a breast reduc-
tion and I am told she had periareolar incisions bilaterally, then
the cut straight down (T).

Ohmigosh, I feel like we may be setting ourselves up for trouble. I
asked for all medical records related
to the surgery, for the adoptive mom to have a complete physical and
then I will assist the new LC with
exam, HX ect. Should we risk hormone therapy in someone who has a
family history of Cancer. Does
anyone have any experience here?

By the way, the birth mother is expected to expire following the
birth. Please advise Donna Corrieri
