When I stayed at home I washed it all in hot soapy water after every use and
boiled it several times a week to daily depending on how often I was using
it. Now that I am working however - hot water is sometimes difficult to come
by and the soap IS sticky and hard to get off, so I rinse in the hottest
water available (sometimes from the top off the coffee maker) and forego the
soap and then reuse the parts again within several hours. I also store used,
rinsed parts in the cooler I use to store milk in, in their own plastic bag,
(so they stay cold and don't grow "buggs") AND I wash and boil them upon
reaching home after a shift. I also am fanatical about hand washing before
and after!

I am learning to trust (to some degree) the anti-bacterial properties
present in human milk as it is not realistic that I can soap and heat
everything in the time I have available to pump.

Has anyone ever tried micro waving Medela parts? I was thinking maybe they
could be sterilized that way?
