It is interesting to note that the reference to the recommendation that
"mother and baby should sleep in proximity to each other" is really from a
SIDS research study, and not about breastfeeding.

We know that it facilitates easier nighttime nursing, but it decreases SIDS
also.  No matter how a baby is fed that study is recommending that babies
sleep in close proximity to mother to decrease SIDS.
