This regarding breastfeeding pillows....like all new moms who think they need
THE GADGET....be it BF pillows or diaper genies or champs or something or
other. Sooner or later if they are smart and lazy (take this as a compliment)
they will ditch the item or relagate it to the consignment shop. Having had 4
grandchildren in the last 3 years and 2 in the last 4 months, I have seen my
daughters all request these items. With 2 currently breastfeeding exclusively,
I have observed that nowhere are to be seen are the diaper thingamagigs and
the pillows are tucked out of the way and they casually and instinctively hold
their babes to their breasts and on their knees.
So when the diaper warmers arrive at the hospital and the pillows I try to
discourage my patients to reconsider and to return them promptly for nice
refunds to be used on outfits later on or diapers or something like photos, which
will put a real dent in their budgets. Some do and others will learn. It seems
like the CS moms think of the pillows as a protective barrier in the early
days. Since two of my daughters had sections I did see the pillows in those
first days but by two weeks they were off the pillow.
The best ads for exclusive breastfeeding to my staff have been my daughters'
babies...the fat cutie pies with big smiles who ride on their mom's hips in
their slings when they come to visit Grammie at work.
