I had a kiddo do this when I introduced a sippy cup. It was involuntary,
like nipple confusion. I'm so glad I never had to use bottles, because I
can't imagine it turning out well with him.

The cure for us was to get rid of all sippy cups, sports bottles, anything
but a regular cup, and then when I offered him the breast, I kept a finger
alongside the nipple, so if his teeth closed down first, I would stop it.
If he was starting to latch properly, I would move my finger. It helped
break the pattern. In a couple days he had the movement down and the
muscle memory to remind him that teeth have no involvement in drinking from
either the breast or any other vessel.
