Lois Asked:

"Dear lactnetters, I am in over my head{no pun intended] A mother asked
me if she could scuba dive while breastfeeding. I have no idea about
scuba diving and she gave me permission to post, Any ideas?"

Hi Lois from the USA Dive Capital. Yes, mothers get told NOT to breastfeed by some who are under the impression nitrogen will accumulate in the breastmilk like it can in the blood.
I even have this question posted on my website.

Q: Can I breastfeed if I scuba dive?
A: Breastfeeding mothers do not have to limit participating in sports, including diving. According to the Divers Alert Network, the mother's milk is not affected from diving. The nitrogen absorbed into the body tissue during diving 'washes out' rather quickly and would be too small to affect mother's milk
