I didn't have the pleasure of going to the ILCA conference, I was in England
(the second best place that weekend!). My associate went and brought this
page back to me. I loved it and have copied it for the patients here and
put it in my "Keeping A Breast". I keep trying to offer these concepts and
truths to the nurses as well as the moms. The nurses routinely talk about,
"ya know, there's only about 1 tspful and when it's gone, it's gone...yaddy,
yaddy ya" I use some of the same words when I describe this, that being in
mom's arms(or maybe dad's, too) or at breast is like being at 'home'. I'm
hoping that is writing and from someone else they might look at the info
differently. I think some of them think I come up with this stuff in my own
little booby box all by myself!
But, this whole frenzy thing happens mostly at night here, either the second
or third night, sort of like clock-work. I often try to head off the
'problem' by telling the story of the possiblity on day-1. I loved the part
about the hands....I want to say the same thing, there is so much concern
about that scratching part...so I'm glad you said it! Thanks for sharing
this with us.
And....what a heart ache about Jill. We all are pulling for her and the
baby to get as much breastmilk as possible and for it all to be OK soon. And
for you with your 'grammy only hat'
take care.
