We can't have university courses until we have a defined body of 
knowlege and enough instructors to pass it on.  Most of the professions 
went from the self-taught, independant study model, to an apprenticeship 
and reading model, to a University program.  ILCA is busy with a 
subcommittee to try to work toward this end, but it is a process and 
takes time.  Those of us who have been in this profession for some time 
can help by answering the knowlege base survey when it comes out, giving 
feedback about the core curriculum (great start at codifying what we 
need to know, Marsha!), and by being a clinical mentor.  As we get more 
folks with advanced degrees who are eligible to teach at the university 
level, we'll be more equipped to develop programs.
