I have a breastfeeding client who will be traveling to Africa next month
for 2 weeks without her baby. She will need to get the antimalaria drug
Lariam. Does anyone have any experience with this to know if it's
contraindicated with breastfeeding? I have looked it up in Hale's books
and it appears to me that only a very small amount of the drug will get
into the breastmilk, therefore, she CAN continue to breastfeed or pump &
store. However, she has been told to pump and dump for 3 weeks:-(
Thanks in advance,
Pam in St. Louis
