Weighing in here as a listmother.
The discussion about the inappropriate treatment of women by "helpers" has been very productive. However, on the topic of appropriate terminology we really need to listen to one another. It's been pretty clearly stated that while don't have a problem with the use of the phrase "nipple rape" there are others for whom the use of this phrase is inappropriate and painful. We need to acknowledge that and to respect those who feel the latter by ceasing from using the phrase in this context. This is something on which there is no need to find a "right" answer, it just about hearing where others are coming from and using different descriptor....it's not like we don't have a huge selection of adjectives in the English language! I think that we can find other ways of describing physical and emotional violation that don't hurt others who are a part of our community.
Thanks everyone!
