Dear Friends;
     I am disappointed that Dr. Meek has chosen to function under the
umbrella of a company.
     We have had so many examples of this type of act in the past. I remember
the negative feedback I got for questioning in my review why Maureen Minchin
made a breastfeeding videotape for Nestle, back in the early '90's.
     We have Dr. Lucas, Dr. Hartman, Dr. Meier, several LCs (remember the
booklet that Ross put out with several IBCLCs as authors?), all of whom have
connected themselves with commercial interests.
     We have heard that old justification before also, as when ICEA violated
its' own position on infant feeding by permitting bottle and teat
advertisements in violation of the WHO Code in a magazine for parents. That old reason
being "Formula, (or bottles or pacifiers) is here to stay so parents should have
the best information about it."
     This makes me very sad, because I like ethical conduct. I do the best I
can for myself, and expect those whom I admire and respect to do likewise.
     What is that saying, something about getting mud on yourself when you
play with dirty friends?
     warmly,
