I had to chuckle over the posts re the "gift pack" freebies from American
Baby and the rest. In Michigan, the hospital used to give out gift pax, I
think it was called, full of shampoo, J&J baby powder, and so on. I'm sure
it had coupons for formula, too. With Jill, since I worked at the hospital,
I must have gotten 10 of those pax - at least enough shampoo to last us her
first year. When we moved here to Illinois, the hospital didn't give out the
pax because the docs were adamant, as was the nursing supervisor, that it was
advertising and endorsement of a particular product. However, there was no
recognition that giving out formula packs was the very same thing! A lot
less problematic for babies to get shampoo & powder than formula, in my
opinion!

They are STILL giving out formula packs on d/c -- 13 years later....

Jan B. Frustrated with the status quo.
