I recently had a client with low milk production who had been an  
athlete in high school and didn't go through puberty and get her  
period until age 18.  We did some heavy supplementing and pumping,  
and herbs, and she was able to bring her milk supply up to most of  
the baby's needs by 8 weeks, and chose to continue to give 3 oz or so  
of formula a day.  (She did not want to pursue pharmacological  
solutions).
