I wonder if legislators care about the potential voters who make a conscious choice to disenfranchise themselves in order to avoid the less convenient aspects of participating in what passes for a democracy?

I am not criticizing the choice not to register to vote per se. I am only wondering whether such an act is one which galvanizes legislators into action to change rules which run counter to good, conscientious parenting.

It's easy for me to speak up, having kept my right to vote while effectively exempting myself from jury duty in the US by permanently residing abroad. I have volunteered to be in the jurors' pool here. Citizenship is not a requirement in Norway, and the rules are flexible enough to exempt me if I am on call for a home birth.

from a distance, which at times like this is a great solace,

expatriate voter from Washington state, in Norway
