DITTO!!!! I can think of several moms years ago with "non latching" babies
(for various reasons) who got tired of pumping (and trying to breastfeed
without success) and ended up giving up on breastfeeding or pumping. Nipple
shields have been a tool, a bridge, something to give the mother some success
so that she hangs in there! Sometimes the shields don't help at all, other
times they're used once or twice and other times much longer.
Like Debi said, sometimes the shield "keeps mom going---and feeds the baby."
