When we sometimes ponder all the side effects of drugs on the BF process and
our society's reliance on artificial substances the following information was
an eye opening fact to me.
 From page 87 3/1/96 "Family Practice News:
.........According to Joseph Califano, former secretary of Health, Education,
and Welfare, the United States accounts for 5% of the world's population but
consumes almost 50% of the world's illegal drugs (Tobacco Control Suppl.
2:19-22,1955).  "If a disease like cancer or diabetes afflicted as many
Americans as tobacco, alcohol, and drug abuse and addiction do, this nation
would mount a research effort on the scale of the Manhattan Project to deal
with it," Mr. Califano said.

Granted this talks about illegal drug use, but I really see alot of
prescription drug "overuse" that I think is probably an extension (or the
foundation) of the above mentioned drug consumption.

Points to ponder, from Iowa where it finally is starting to start being
spring.
