I don't believe this organization ever claimed to follow the Code.
Just look through Lifelines and JOGNN and see how many non-code ads
there are! I believe their conferences have ABM funded events and
sessions as well as exhibits. Their statement on breastfeeding
which came out a few years ago while giving lip service to benefits
of breastfeeding and the need for nurses to support it, as I recall
it also made a big point of the old "but if a mom chooses not to we
have to suport her too" and even brought up the "don't make them
feel guilty" routine. While there have been some good articles in
the publications, at the same time I have been disappointed by the
missed opportunities where they could have been more supportive. As
a result I have decided not to renew next time my membership comes
due. I have to cut back on all the mags I get and this is the first
to get the ax.
