Just saw this note and thought it actually isn't a bad idea - instead of
doing the elimination diet to find out what a mom is eating that is causing
diarrhea or green stools, this LC opted for having mom eat ONLY foods she
never eats (therefore baby would not have an allergy to them).

Pehaps this idea can be shared with Dr. Vicens (or has he stopped giving
those long "do not eat" lists?)

By the way, I MISS YOU - especially now that I'm working and am meeting up
with uninformed, frustrating doctors (the last one told a mom the vaginal
bleeding the baby had (4 days old) was due to hormones in her milk and made
her stop breastfeeding and give formula x 24 hours - then saw the soft
yellow stool and put baby on pedialyte and Kaopectate!). Thank Heavens
the Public Health Nurses seem more willing to challenge the MD's orders and
told mom to stop Kaopectate ASAP.

Recap: Baby was fussy & gassy since birth. Baby wanted to suck all of the
time. Sudden onset of green stools at about 8 weeks.

After getting lots of feed back we opted to work with mom's diet. Partial
elimination of dairy made no impact. Talked mom through finding out what
things she "never" eats. Diet would consist of pork without additives,
rice, cruciferous vegetables, and pineapple. Within three days the baby
was
sleeping well, was happy between nursing for reasonable amounts of time.
Mom sounded much more rested and relieved. By day 5 of the diet, stools
were back to yellow with normal odor & consistency. Mom began adding foods
back in on day 6. Only reaction so far is to corn products. Mom's father
and sister are extremely allergic to corn. Dairy has not been added back
into diet yet.
