One more trick for over active MER is to remove the baby from the breast as
soon as he starts to have trouble with the strong MER; let the milk spray
into a cloth until the flow changes to a SLOW DRIP, then put baby back on.
Mom can let baby suck on her finger while waiting for flow to slow down, if
baby is desperate to suck. This technique combined with nursing on only one
side for about half the day, greatly improved a severe over active MER within
a few days. (The mom in this case was me.)
