I have promised for years, and still haven't produced, a protocol for the
Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine on "Breastfeeding in the NICU".  Don't wait
for me.  If you want evidence-based best practices, read anything by Paula
Meier PhD! Her article (and Richard Schanler's) in the Ped Clinic of North
America Feb and April 2001 are the best summaries around.

Yes, I know Dr. Schanler has had research funding from Ross and others, but I
know the man personally and professionally, and he is the most rigorous and
intellectually honest researcher I know. Do I always agree with him? ...No.
But there are many things regarding breastfeeding of which we have no,
limited or poor research.
