Zoloft gets into the milk in almost undetectable amounts. A recent
letter in the New England Journal (April 17) discusses sertraline and
shows that the baby has no inhibition of serotonin uptake in lymphocytes
(which have the same transport mechanism as the brain).

The mother should breastfeed, if she wants. The risks of formula are
definite, those of antidepressants, particularly Zoloft theoretical
only. But the evidence seems to be the baby will get very little, very
little.
