Subject: Re: [LACTNET] NEC because of a dairy allergy??

I am interested in hearing about the NEC issue also. I have a new mommy
who's physician took baby off of breastmilk and put him on special formula.
I
was so shocked! I know breastmilk would have been a great benifit to this
baby....but I am not "allowed" to go against the advice of a physician. How
do
you handle it when you are confronted with this kind of "expert advice"?

**I don't know... Just had a father on the phone today who told me they
wanted to pump with a single set; mom had had a breast reduction and the
nurse and the midwife told them that pumping with a single set would be the
best way to stimulate production... I tried to encourage double pumping, but
couldn't get through. Expert advice... it's often an expert way to
weaning... :-s
I always wonder: if one cannot go against the advice of a physician, you can
always give information. In the end, the decision is NOT up to the
physician, but to the parents, right...?
