Dear Friends:
Heather asks about a reference for Lacto-free formula. There is none,
except what comes from Mead Johnson, who has the results of their clinical trial
on file.
253 formula feeding babies started the trial, 197 finished. There is no
mention of where those 56 (20% of the original sample) babies went. The trial
studied babies from age 14 to 120 days. At the end of the trial, all babies
grew adequately and parents reported no difference in fussiness, colic,
constipation, sleep disturbance and several other symptoms when their babies switched
from Standard formula to the Lactofree. So what's the point of switching?
The conclusion of this "research" is that Lactofree was judged to be safe
as a sole source of infant nutrition.
    warmly,
