Jay, I too was concerned at Lori's post.

The suggestions and the support Lori was giving made a lot of sense,
especially the skin to skin, but these supportive, gentle measures
have to be given time to work....often, babies with a 'funny suck'
can teach themselves to do it 'right' and if they're given the chance
just to explore and practise and enjoy being at the breast, things
are likely to work out : )

But giving bottles is such a risk to the parents' confidence, and to
the long-term probability of bf.

Our UK stats show that a baby who gets formula in the first week is
*three times* more likely to be fully formula fed by the end of the
second week.

Sorry if I am wide of the mark, and there are other issues here not
mentioned in the post.
