Can anyone point me to the latest research on this??? (storage guidelines)

1) I heard from another lactation consultant that the freezer
recommendations have changed from 4-6 months to a year. (not speaking of a
deep freezer) Anyone seen this bit of research?????

2) I know I just read somewhere recently how they (researchers) tested
milk at room temperature and it took 4 days to spoil. Where the heck did I
read that??????

It seems everyone is saying something different. I encourage moms to smell
the milk after pumping it so that they know how it is supposed to smell, and
that if it is spoiled they would know that by the smell.

I know I have heard and read 3 days fridge and 3 months freezer, 5 days
fridge and 5 months freezer .. 8 hours room temp, 8 days fridge, 8 months
freezer .! What should we be saying?????

Nancy Mohrbacher new book, Breastfeeding Answers Made Simple pg 461 has the
following guidelines:

Room temp: 6-10 hours (when at 66-72 degrees farenheit) and 4 hours (when
73-77 degrees farenheight)

Refrigerator: 3 days (ideal) but 8 days (ok)

Freezer : 3-4 months

Deep frz : 6 months (ideal) but 12 months (ok)
