I cannot remember the last time I used the finger
feeding method as I see it as rude and invasive. I
have found that cup feeding very easy and less
invasive than poking around where I don't belong. I
know there are some "nay sayers" out there that say
they have demonstrated that there is too much spillage
w/ cup feeding but I have rarely found this to be true
in my practice. If one is really worried about the
spillage issue, then do an ac/pc wt. to make sure
enough is getting down. The bottom line is that the
baby needs to be fed. And if the suck is that
disorganized that the baby is unable to nurse at the
breast w/ or w/o shield, then someone in suck training
needs to be consulted. At least that is my opinion.
Suzanne
