I can only tell how it happened with our daughter (now 4 years old).
She was a difficult feeder when she was 6 months and it happened that soon after solids
were introduced she started having a nasty candida on her little bottom and rashes on
her face, to the point where her cheeks were red from inflammation.
She is still nursing and solids started to be a 'proper' part of her menu well after she
turned 1, she still has breastmilk for breakfast. (She is the luckiest person in our family,
to get breakfast on bed every day!). Actually she nightfeeds too.
So I would say your advice woud have fit our daughter very well.
It was very difficult as in our country solids are sold with a bright '4 months' on the little
jars. So when you tell your 1 year old lives on breastmilk and 1 or 2 table spoon(s) of
solids, they think you are crazy.
