Hi Wise Women,

I saw a woman today who is pumping for her 2 week old full-term baby (who was briefly in the NICU, not allowed to nurse) and also putting him to the breast. However, he is just hanging off the nipple and sucking drips of milk. I'm astounded that she's not cracked and bleeding. Thankfully, he has been gaining fabulously on her pumped milk. Two questions:

1) Anyone have a recommendation for a bisphenol-A-free bottle that has a very slow flow?

2) Any suggestions, other than lots of skin-to-skin, optimizing chin-first, assymetrical latch and using a finger to circle the lips, to get this puckering baby to open up? I gave a little tug on his chin also, but he really resisted and was content to nipple suck (but also kept falling off of course).

Thanks,
Julie, CD, PCD, LCCE, (new) IBCLC
