While some moms might want to use such a thing for nursing in public, I
feel they  "get in the way" during a consult.  Unless you don't have
good privacy (a real no-no IMO), mom is not exposed to anyone but baby
and the LC.  We need to be able to see what's happening as she feeds and
the cape would be more hinderance than help for good observing and
assessing.  I have never had a mom complain-many on their own will
remove their top if it gets in the way.  If mom is wearing a loose neck
strechy top, she can simply gather up the front of the shirt and lift it
over her head and behind her neck.  Works great!
By the way, at a conference a couple years ago there was an exhibitor
that had a simple gadget consisting of a strip of cloth about 6 inches
long with velcro on the ends.  It was to be sued for gathering up mom's
top clothing and holding it out of the was for feeding.  I've never seen
any reference to them since.  I may make up a couple myself to have for
use during  consults.
