I just visited this site & found some very discouraging & incorrect info
about breastfeeding. Have any of you seen this? Has it been discussed here
before?

To avoid breastfeeding frustrations,

When you first begin nursing, offer her each breast for about five minutes,
and work up to 10 or more minutes on each breast over the next few weeks.

Realize that the first experiences my be difficult. At about 72 hours after
birth, particularly, your breasts may become engorged with an overflow of
milk and normal swelling.

While nursing, you'll want to avoid shellfish and peanuts to assure that your
baby doesn't develop allergies. Also avoid alcohol.

For the first few weeks, your newborn may nurse for thirty minutes, sleep for
ten, and awaken wanting to nurse again, ten or more times a day. This
schedule will be tiring for you, but it is what your baby needs in the first
few weeks.

The more she nurses, the larger your supply will be. She'll let you know that
she's hungry by making sucking motions with her lips or by crying. Don't
assume that every cry is a request for a meal,

Since you can't measure breast milk intake, you'll have to use other methods
to be sure your baby is eating enough.

Drink at least 32 ounces of water or nutritional liquid a day. Increase your
calorie intake by about 500 calories, and be sure to get enough rest.
