To me the real issue is the message that every breastfeeding mother needs a
pump.

secondary issues include
1. And if you pump the milk you feed it in a bottle and bottles interfere
with breastfeeding you may succeed in shortening duration of BF
2. It doesn't matter what the gift or product is, the real intention is to
sell more formula and make more money for the formula manufacturers. Brand
identification and association
3. If a mother needs a pump let's not forget that she leaves the hospital or
birthing place with two free models attached to the ends of her arms. CAthy
