Hello All,
Lest we should forget, may I mention that the Journal of Epidemiology and
Public Health published a large scale study (the study population was the
entire cohort of women birthing vaginally in the US in 1990) earlier this
year (I think in the May issue) that compared neonatal and perinatal
mortality rates of babies delivered by nurse-midwives and physicians.
Mortality rates among babies delivered by CNMs were outrageously lower than
the physician rates, even when medical and social risk factors were
accounted for.
