Kathleen,

I understand the difficulties you are working under. Thank heavens we
don't have to worry about the cost of babies in NICU here in the UK.

Looked at from another angle, though, when we give bottles under these
circumstances are we colluding with the idea that bottles are easier for
babies?
If a baby cannot breastfeed, it is not ready for discharge. This is the
bottom line, I think.
At some point, and this will come at different times for all of us
working in a hospital setting, the time will be right to make a stand
and say 'enough is enough, we are not giving these babies gold standard
care by doing this. They deserve better from us'.
Hopefully the time will be right for you soon.
